Ok Ladies, this one is for you. I was watching the Wendy Williams show yesterday (don’t ask me why) and she showed behind the scene footage of Reggie Bush taking pictures for the “Got Milk?” ad campaign. All I can say is DAMN!! I even put a reminder in my phone to make sure I found those pictures first thing this morning to share will all of you!!

Wale recently came out with his “Pretty Girls” video earlier this week. And with a video called “Pretty Girls”, you would think the video would feature a variety of different skin shades. But it doesn’t; all the girls in the video are light skinned.
A lot of people on Twitter have been upset that his video didn’t feature more dark skin girls. But why is everyone surprised?? Since when did hip hop videos feature a lot of dark skin girls? Everyone is so upset, but turn on MTV Jams and you’ll see light skin videos girls all over the place? So I don’t understand the big deal; music videos never really represent the real word. I’m a dark skinned pretty girl and now there are plenty of us out here so I’m not offended when my own aren’t featured in a video. We don’t need to be featured in a video for validation.

I don’t think anyone should ever stress about spending too much money on a holiday to show their loved one how much they love them. A spouse should shower their significant other with love all year round.
To me, it’s the little, thoughtful gifts that count. I much rather spend valuable time with someone than splurge on gifts. I also don’t think Valentine’s Day is just a day for lovers; Valentine’s Day is about love, so why not share the day with friends and family if you don’t have a significant other to spend that special day with. Since I’m not big on spending for days like this, here are some Valentine’s day ideas for you and your significant other or closest friends, without spending a lot of money.
Valentine’s Day for Singles
1. Girls/Boys Night Out – We do this every weekend, but just think, everyone who is single is going to be out because they know other singles will be out. Going out this weekend is definitely a great way to meet new people.
2. Dinner with friends –Go out to dinner with a group of your single friends. Everyone is going to be looking to do something anyway, so a great dinner is always fun. My friends seem to always start controversial conversation (guys vs. girls) so it’s never a dull moment.
3. Girls Night In – Don’t want to spend money on a dinner out, have a night in. Gather some of your closest girlfriends, favorite dessert and wine (or liquor) and have a girls night. Movies, conversation, games, etc.
Valentine’s Day for Couples
1. Dessert & Movie night – Snuggle up with your significant other and have a movie night. Enjoy desserts and wine while watching some of your favorite movies.
2. Dinner @ Home for Two – I know, dinner would cost money and we’re trying to be frugal. Have dinner at home. Go shopping, come home and prepare your favorite meal together.
3. Date Night Out – Check out places like Washington Wine Academy. They offer wine tasting, comedy & the Princess Bride Movie for only $8. You and your significant other can go to dinner and a movie anytime; use V-Day as an opportunity to have a more creative date night.

BET hosted “SOS:Saving Ourselves Help Haiti” on Friday, February 5th to raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti. I flipped to BET to watch some of the performances and Chris Brown came on the screen. Yes, Chris Brown; the one who we haven’t seen since last February due to his “incident.” The guy who didn’t have a chance to participate in any Michael Jackson tributes. Yes THAT Chris Brown.Chris Brown released an album last year, but it’s easy to forget since it wasn’t really a hit. Does anyone remember the single(s) he had out this past year????? Didn’t think so!
So it was refreshing to see such a great young artist back on stage performing again. While Chris Brown’s personal life flashed all over the news last year, let’s not forget he can still sing and dance his butt off (please believe, I am not comdoning what he did at all). It’s nice to see him back to performing and I hope his performance at the BET event was a sign that he’s back on the scene. Are you ready for Chris Brown to make a major comeback?
One of my college friends is trying to come down to DC in 2 weeks to visit. She’s finishing up her last year of grad school so her money situation is a little tight. She used to talk to date a guy from DC, but that relationship fizzled and they moved on. He actually got married.
So why is he now trying to fly her down to DC, pay for lodging and hang out??? Excuse me!! If he’s married, there is no reason he should be trying to make arrangements to fly a female he used to date into town. He needs to go home and make weekend arrangements to hang out with his wife!!!
It’s ironic that my friend told me this the same day I was listening to the radio and heard a statistic that more men than women can’t get over their exes. Guys called into the radio talking about how they still talk to their ex girlfriends daily even though they are in new relationships. One guy that called in was engaged and obviously still in love with his ex.
Here’s what I don’t understand, if you’re going to move on, why not MOVE ON COMPLETELY!? Why jump into new situations, when you still have feelings for the old one? If you decide to make the commitment to be married, live up to that oath and be married. Unfortunately for you, you’re NO LONGER SINGLE. If you wanted to live the single life, you shouldn’t have gotten down on one knee and asked someone to be your wife.
We seldom hear about high fashion designers invading DC to show off their new collections, so I was surprised when I heard that CHANEL will be in town to showcase their Spring 2010 Ready- To-Wear collection.
On Thursday at Neiman Marcus, CHANEL will showcase its Spring 2010 Shoe Collection followed by the CHANEL Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear collection on February 12th and 13th. According to the BET post, this year’s spring collection will highlight “tweed suits, flirty chiffon and clogs.” WAIT, did I just say clogs; really a throwback to the early 90s? I mean, I know things are coming around full circle, but some things need to stay in the past. I definitely will have to go see how Lagerfeld turns clogs into high fashion! Ok I digress….
If you’re like me and can’t make it to fashion week in NYC, definitely take the time to check out the CHANEL Ready-To-Wear trunk show. I’m definitely going if anyone wants to join me! I’ve never been to a trunk show and it’s the closest I’ll get to a high-fashion fashion show! (Please believe, there will be a follow up to this post! I want to see these clogs in person…just saying)

What’s really considered flirting? Is it the exchange of phone numbers? Slow dancing at the club? Buying a drink and chatting for awhile? Making eye contact across the room and staring for that extra second??
A group of friends recently went out to Happy Hour and had a great time. One of the guys and girls seemed to hit it off really well, if you can call it that. They chatted, exchanged contact info and even danced a little bit. But you would’ve thought they knew each other for a long time; she’d walk by, they would grab hands. They’d all be standing around (both guys and girls) and he’d always grab the one girl to dance, none of his other female friends. They’d talk to each other, but close enough to consider evading personal space.
But I wonder, is all of that only considered flirting?!? Can there be any meaning behind all of the attention?
So what do you think falls under the title of JUST FLIRTING? When does the interaction between 2 people have a deeper meaning?
I know everyone has been watching the news non-stop to hear about the latest developments in the rescue missions taking place in Haiti. Recently, 53 orphans were airlifted to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital from Haiti; Jamie and Ali McMutri are responsible for making that possible. Jamie and Ali McMutrie founded the BRESMA orphanage in Haiti and have been working non-stop to provide love, medical care and nutrition for Haitian babies and children in Port-au-Prince. Each year, BRESMA hosts a fundraiser event in the US to raise $$ to provide basic necessities to the children of BRESMA.
Through their calls and Twitter messages, Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania heard about these two young ladies and their orphanage and made arrangements for them to fly all 53 orphans to Pittsburgh. Julie and Ali were originally met with resistance to take all 53 children out of Haiti because some had not been matched with adoptive parents. But after facing much pressure, the Haitian officials allowed Julie and Ali to fly to Pittsburgh with all 53 of their children. 46 children from BRESMA have been matched with adoptive parents. As hard as these ladies have been working, I have no doubt that they will find a home for the other 7 children. You ladies are truly an inspiration to all of us!!
