The fabulous and talented Marsha Ambrosius released a video for her new single “Far Away” and it sends a powerful message. Over the past few months, we have heard multiple stories about gay and lesbian teenagers committing suicide because they were bullied. Ambrosius brings the issue of bullying to light.
She shares her own experience with suicide, addressing fans at the end of the video. She hopes her music will help save the life of someone contemplating suicide:
Dear friends, ever year over 1 million people commit SUICIDE. Some were BULLIED because of their SEXUALITY. I lost a friend to SUICIDE, and I’m asking all of you to support alternative lifestyles. Don’t put up with or join in with BULLYING. It’s time we become more aware in this WORLD. Take a responsibility to make a difference. So if my MUSIC can save one life, I’ve done my job.
The video is definitely powerful and you’ll be moved after watching it. Regardless of your ideals, bullying someone because they are different than society’s norms” is NEVER justified!!
Ambrosius‘ album Late Nights & Early Mornings is schedule to be released March 1, 2011. I can’t wait!!!
