Today is World AIDS Day. On this day and throughout the week, the world unites in the fight against HIV by showing their support for people living with HIV and celebrates the lives of those who have died. World AIDS Day is also a time to bring awareness to the global epidemic and encourage all to practice safe sex, get tested and know your status!

There are a number of events taking place this week in honor of World AIDS Day.  If you’re in the DC area, show your support by attending the 5th Annual Artists for Charity Holiday Benefit and Art Auction.

The Artists for Charity (AFC) event will feature artwork from local and international artists. 100% of the proceeds will go to the AFC Children’s Home which cares for orphaned children living with HIV in Ethiopia.  The benefit and auction will take place from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at 600 I St. NW, Washington DC 20001.

Advanced tickets are $35, Door tickets $40. Click HERE to purchase a ticket.  This is one event you won’t want to miss!

Artists For Charity is comprised of artists and volunteers from all over the world who donate their time, passion, creativity, and artwork for the sake of change. They believe that there is no such thing as a small act of compassion. Dedicated people, united and working together can change the world, one child at a time. For more information on AFC, visit. www.artistsforcharity.org

Along with supporting great causes like AFC, it’s also important to know your status. An estimated 33.3 million globally have HIV. While there have been great advances in medicine, we still have a long way to go.  Be responsible; wrap it up, get tested and know your status!  To find a testing location near you, please visit www.hivtest.org.
