Styled by Keri: 1 Piece 3 Ways - Leather Skater Skirt

There’s never a dull moment with I meet up with Yvonne so I expected nothing less when we met for the 1 Piece 3 Ways series. We had so much fun going through her closet!

Yvonne is a fashion blogger and social media strategist that helps brands increase their social media presence. When asked how she would describe her style she says ” it’s like Coco Chanel and Gwen Stefani had lunch and made fashion babies. I LOVE classic meets contemporary with a little something extra. A statement piece is important to me. I love how the most simple things like a plain tee can be styled to be extraordinary. Oh and my splurge items are handbags. I love a great bag. Whether it’s high end or affordable, a great bag is the finishing touch every outfit needs.”

Yvonne’s description of her style made the leather skirt the perfect item to style three ways. In the past she wore it with the same few tops, so I wanted to give her new looks that she could wear for a variety of occasions. She’s a busy woman that juggles work, after work events and socializing on weekends with family and friends.

After Work Cocktail Hour

Like many of us, Yvonne attends a lot of events after work. For a cocktail hour event, I suggested Yvonne pair her skater skirt with a sequin sweater and silver cap-toe pumps. In this case, the sweater and envelope clutch serve as her statement pieces. The clutch is a testament to her love of a good bag. Since the leather skirt is a little short, she can wear the sweater and heels to work with pants or a pencil skirt; switch into the leather skirt for after hours. A pencil skirt will work for cocktail hour as well, but to speak to her style of “classic meets contemporary with a little something extra” the leather skater skirt serves as a more interesting option.

Touring for the Day

Who says you can’t wear a leather skirt during the day? While touring the city with family and friends this fall, Yvonne can have fun mixing edgy and sporty pieces. I love the idea of wearing a casual piece like a sweatshirt with leather pieces. The leather booties contribute to the edginess of the look too. I added fun earrings and bracelet. Yvonne can include a classic element of her style to this look with the chain purse and topknot.

Date Night at a Jazz Lounge

For date night with her boyfriend, I stuck with the classic black and white color palette.  Yvonne is bigger on bottom so a skater skirt paired with a printed blouse is a great look to create balance. Pairing a solid skirt with a printed shirt brings the attention to the top half of her body.  She can transition the top and skirt to fall by pairing with leather peep-toe booties. I used another great envelope clutch in yellow as her pop of color and kept jewelry to a minimum to not overshadow the printed shirt and bright clutch.

What do you think of these looks? Feeling inspired to wear a leather skater skirt?
