On Saturday April 14, 2012 Krystin Hargrove (beloudbeyou.com) and Denisio Truitt (theravenouscreator.com) will premiere their collaborative reconstructed vintage line, 8 Vintage. The launch party will be held at Barcode Lounge from 5-8pm.  Along with celebrating the opening of 8 Vintage, they will be debuting their designs via lookbook, which will display the shops first collection.

8 Vintage is a reconstructed vintage online boutique. Every six weeks, a new collection of eight pieces will be available for sale, each collection having a different theme. For the inaugural collection the theme is “Structured and Bright” and will feature tailored apparel in brilliant summer hues.

Drake finally released the highly anticipated video for his hit song with Rihanna, “Take Care.” I love this song so I’m glad the visuals for the track were finally released.  It’s an simple, artistic video displaying the imitate, humble side of Drake.

By now you’ve probably seen the new Burger King commercial featuring  Mary J. Blige. While I appreciate Burger King’s attempts to expand its offerings ( in order to compete with McDonalds), thsi commerical featuring Mary J. Blige as the spokesperson is HORRIBLE.

Maybe I’m shocked because if a celebrity was going to do a fast food commercial, I’d expect to see someone who is not as popular in entertainment. I would not expect to see the Queen of Hip Hop Soul; Ms. “Real Love” and ”I’m Goin’ Down.”  Many people, like me, were quite surprised and disappointed to see Mary in the new commercial.  The money Burger King offered must have been RIIIGHHHHTT for her to ever agree to this because this is an EPIC FAIL!

Fingers crossed this is a sign Missy Elliott will release some new music soon!!

Pursuit DC is hosting it’s second annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament to benefit Capital Partners for Education (CPE).  All proceeds from the tournament will be used to support CPE’s efforts to help motivated, low-income high school students reach their dreams of attending and completing college.

Life coach and dynamic speaker Kiki Ramsey, has declared 2012 as the year of courage for women across the country and she is inviting individuals to join her at the kickoff event for the Get Courageous Movement!

The Get Courageous Kickoff will feature expert panelists in the areas of relationships, career, finances, emotional well-being, spiritual growth and health. The Get Courageous Kickoff is for anyone that is prepared to take their life to new heights and challenge anything that stands in the way.

In addition, all attendees are encouraged to donate gently used suits and accessories that will benefit Dress For Success, Washington DC Affiliate. This is a non-profit organization that provides professional attire, mentoring programs and career assistance to women who are making the transition from welfare to work. I am a Dress for Success volunteer and can’t stress enough how beneficial this organization is for women who are working hard to re-enter the job market and retain their jobs once they are employed.
