6126 By Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is making a name for herself in the fashion world.   She has come out with a legging line called 6126, named after Marilyn Monroe’s birthday.  Leggings were a big trend in 2009 and with a line like this one, expect to see more risqué looks this year.  She’s taking leggings to a whole new level. Now I usually rock my basic black leggings, but I may have to step out of my comfort zone and try a pair of these! icon smile 6126 By Lohan

A full 6126 line is expected to premiere next year at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom’s and Bloomingdale’s.  In the meantime, check out the full leggings line at http://www.shop.6126collection.com/

Tights vs. Leggings

Ok I have to talk about a pet-peeve of mine. Many people think it’s ok to wear tights when they wear shirts and tunics.  But it’s NOT ok, especially if your tights are sheer!  I don’t what to see your baby thigh or butt when you happen to bend over to pick up something.

So to help those of you who may not know the difference between the two, and when it’s appropriate to wear tights vs. leggings, I thought I would explain it for you.

Tights are thinner than leggings.  If you are going to wear tights, they should be worn with a pencil skirt, dresses or shorts.  But if you are wearing them with a dress, the dress must be longer than tunic length; this means it hits above the knee or longer.  You SHOULD NOT wear tights if you are wearing a tunic.  Why?? Because when you wear sheer tights with tunics or shirts, a little too much is exposed.  I’ve seen way too much so far this season!

Leggings on the other hand, are a thicker fabric and should be worn with tunics/long shirts; shirts or “dresses” that hit mid-thigh or shorter. Do not wear leggings if you have on a knee-length skirt or dress.  That’s too much and it’ll look like you were trying to bundle up.

See, the difference is that simple.   Now I know most of you reading this are fashionistas, so this isn’t anything you don’t already know.  But if you know someone who isn’t aware of what’s appropriate, please pass along this blog so they too can be on the right track to wearing tights and leggings appropriately!!!

The 80s are Back!!

This summer at work, we started to receive our fall merchandise and now that September is almost over, if you haven’t done so already, it’s time to add some fun fall must-haves to the wardrobe.  And not surprisingly, it looks like the 80’s are officially back!!! We got a taste of the 80’s last year with the infamous liquid leggings and sequins tops, but it looks like the fashion world has decided to take it to the next level. If you’re feeling 80’s inspired this fall season, here are some styles you should definitely add to your wardrobe!!

(Remember to shop for trends on a budget and always invest in wardrobe essentials!)

JACKETS

The EXPRESS STRONG SHOULDER JACKET – Sexy and Sophisticated, putting a new edge on the office blazer.  This is a great blazer to wear with a skirt and roll up the sleeves and rock with leggings and skinny jeans at night!

The Boyfriend Jacket – You can’t go wrong with this piece!!  A neutral boyfriend jacket looks great with skinny jeans and leggings and of course it’s a great piece to contrast with a tunic and/or a printed dress during spring.

(Featured above is the Stella McCarthy Boyfriend Jacket).

 NOVELTY LEGGINGS

Move over black leggings and make room for prints!!  This season printed patterns like snake and leopard are taking over the traditional black leggings. These look great with a blazer, cardigan or military jacket.  Add some fun to the leggings by wearing bright pumps and/or accessories.

LEATHER – WELL NOT REALLY!

Leather – Leather is in, but its recession proof leather! Faux leather and “Minus the Leather” styles have taken over this year.  It looks and feels like the real thing, but less expensive! Why not rock the latest fashions without spending a fortune!

 NEON

Make a BOLD statement with bright colors this fall. Pair with a neutral (like the boyfriend jacket), black tights or pants for a bold, put together look.
