A Diva State of Mind

Sophisticated. Classy. Elegant.

Those are three words to describe the Donna Karan Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear Collection.  The collection deviated from dark colors like black and olive green that has been seen so often during fashion week. Instead, Donna Karan filled the runway will pale hues. The collection still felt like Fall, but with so much more grace and elegance than if it were of a darker color palette. 

From the draped collar belted dresses to the fur accents and coats, I was watching the show wanting to take every look from the runway and infuse them into my wardrobe. Every single look down that runway was STUNNING.

I woke up this morning to my twitter timeline going crazy over the Derek Lam runway show.  Derek Lam took looking effortless to a whole new level with his new Fall 2011 collection.  He played with length, color and the fall trend of layering. Most looks focused on elongating the woman that wears each piece.  For example, he paired leather pants with a tunic length sweater and shorter poncho. This look not only plays on layering various pieces, but will work to make the woman wearing the look taller.

The collection featured wide leg pants, knee length dress coats (a trend for Fall 2011) and ended with gorgeous floor length gowns. Leather and fur in various colors were seen throughout the collection as well, a trend that doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon

I was first introduced to Jason Wu during the 2009 Inaugural Ball when First Lady Michelle Obama wore his ivory, one shoulder rosette-covered dress. Since then, the fashion world has been going crazy over his designs.

Yesterday Jason Wu premiered his Fall 2011 Collection at New York Fashion Week and the collection is simply AMAZING!  The looks are so eloquent. From structured coats and dresses to full length gowns with metallic sequin, there is look in the collection for every occasion.
