5 Ways To Wear Boyfriend Jeans This Spring

The popularity of boyfriend jeans is on the rise. While skinny jeans are great, sometimes you just aren’t in the mood for tight jeans. Boyfriend jeans are a great way to be comfortable while still looking stylish! If you’re on the hunt for a pair of jeans or have them and aren’t sure how to wear them, this post is for you.

Below are 5 looks to inspire you the next time you want to wear your favorite boyfriend jeans this spring along with suggestions on where to buy them (click on outfit for details on the pieces included in each look).

When you don’t know what to wear, just throw on a pair of jeans and a blazer. It’s the easiest way to look effortlessly put together.  It’s definitely my go to when I feel like I’m out of outfit ideas. Since it is the spring season, lighten up the look by pairing the jeans with a solid blazer in a bright color or have fun with prints.  If the blazer is solid, add a statement necklace for a little extra visual interest. If you go with a printed blazer, ditch the necklace and let the blazer be the center of attention. Complete the looks with neutral accessories and makeup.

Graphic Tees & Tanks

Love wearing jeans and t-shirt? Translate that into a stylish look by pairing a graphic tee or tank with boyfriend jeans. You can wear gladiator sandals if you’re not a fan of heels. Otherwise, add a fun wedge like the ones below. Wedges come across as a little more casual than pumps. If you wear black and white tees/tanks, use beauty products like lipstick and nail polish for your pops of color.

Crop Tops

Pair your boyfriend jeans with one of this season’s hottest trends: crop tops. If your jeans are low rise, you’ll want to wear them with longer crop tops; these types of tops still show a little skin, but won’t expose your entire midsection. You can go shorter on the crop top if the jeans are midrise or high waisted. Use accessories like statement jewelry and shoes or makeup like a bold red lipstick to add a pop of color and bring the entire look together.

With temperatures in the 60s and 70s, spring is the perfect time to pair your boyfriend jeans with blouses. If you search online, you’ll see a lot of people wear their jeans with white blouses. I love the look of wearing a white blouse with boyfriend jeans; it’s simple and classic. But as you should know by now, I like giving you options that will help you think a little outside the box. Instead of a white blouse, have fun with a bright hue or bold print.  For those business casual days at work, wear your blouses with boyfriend jeans that ARE NOT distressed like the ones below.

Spring season means cardigans! Of course cardigans can be worn with any type of boyfriend jean, however if you give yourself the option of wearing this look to work on a casual Friday by pairing them with nondistressed denim (the shoe choice will depend on work environment). Because it’s spring, have fun mixing colors and prints!

Shop boyfriend jeans below. Other retailers not listed below to shop for boyfriend jeans include American Eagle Boyfriend Crop and Hollister. For plus size options check out Torrid, Nordstrom and Zappos.

[VIDEO] Homeless Man Who ‘Won The Lottery’ Gets A Home!

The power of the internet is amazing!

In March, I shared with you the Youtube video of Rahat, a prankster, who decided to pull a prank for a good cause. Rahat gave a homeless man Eric, a fake lottery ticket, but set it up that the store owner would give Eric $1,000 for turning in the “winning” ticket.  Eric was so appreciative and humble after receiving his prize; he even offered to share some of the money with Rahat.

Since sharing his good deed online, Rahat’s video went viral and caught the attention of many. So many people were moved by Eric that they wanted to help. Rahat set up a fundraiser and in just 17 days, $44,000 was raised!  So what did Rahat decide to do with that money? He gave Eric a home to call his own for a year.

I don’t want to give everything away. Watch the video below to see how the big reveal to Eric about his new home unfolds. It’s priceless! Warning: this video will bring tears to your eyes!

Stories like this indeed restore my faith in humanity!

Let’s Get Together & ‘Brunch For A Cause!’

The first Brunch For A Cause in February was so much fun! It’s time to prepare for the next one icon smile Lets Get Together & Brunch For A Cause!

Brunch For A Cause returns this summer at M Street Bar & Grill in DC. All attendees will enjoy a three course meal and unlimited mimosas or champagne. Brunch on Sundays at M Street is supposed to be a jazz brunch, so there may be live music there too!

Proceeds will benefit Miriam’s Kitchen, an organization focused on combating chronic homelessness by creating meaningful connections with chronically homeless individuals, placing them in permanent supportive housing and ensuring they have the necessary support to remain in housing.  A representative from Miriam’s Kitchen will be present to talk about the organization in more detail and answer questions. I’ll also be giving away goodies to all attendees!

I know it seems really early to announce an event that is taking place mid-June, but 1) tickets must be purchased by June 1st, 2) time is flying by and June will be here before you know it and 3) folks get busy and I want to make sure you’re able to purchase your ticket ASAP and share with friends. This event is open to ALL!

I appreciate those who have been so supportive of this brunch series! Sunday, June 22nd will be a great time to fellowship over great food and drinks while also giving back to your community. I hope to see you there!!

Please feel free to spread the word and share with others!

EVENT RECAP: Speaking on Personal Style at Love Your Life Tour Event

A few weeks ago, I was one of the guest speakers at the FEM-POW!ER MOVEMENT Love Your Life Tour  event at Busboys & Poets in Hyattsville, MD. Guests received gift bags, enjoyed a continental breakfast and engaged in a discussion about self-actualization, personal style and personal finances.

On stage with guest speaker Ginger Dean, who spoke on personal finances.

During my presentation,  I spoke to a group of 25 women about personal style which included how to develop a personal style, knowing that personal style is about more than just clothes, examples on how to incorporate one’s style into the workplace and much more! Following my presentation, I engaged in a question and answer session with the women in attendance; this served as an opportunity to not only ask me questions, but for the ladies to also share information with each other (for example, where to shop for plus size clothing, why some feel it’s beneficial to hire a stylist).

Discussing things to consider when it comes to personal style.

Chatting during the Q&A.

The event served as a great opportunity for women to come together and bond over the issues we all share: discovering who we really are, knowing our self-worth, understanding how to put our best foot forward (via wardrobe and attitude) and figuring how to put ourselves in a position of financial freedom.

Check out a recap and guest speaker interviews with Kyani of J’adore DC:

It really was a great morning of knowledge and networking!

‘Scandal’ Video of the Day: Harrison Wright’s Funeral

Kevin, known as KevOnStage on social media, is back with another Cartoon Scandal episode. By now you should’ve heard that Columbus Short won’t be returning to Scandal next season. Most assume that means he died at the end of Season 3 (it ended with us not knowing his fate). Going off that assumption, Kev created Harrison Wright’s Funeral with the funeral program created by pop culture blogger Luvvie, of Awesomely Luvvie.
