Crystal Couture Show and Sale, the DC area’s hottest trunk sale and fashion show, returns to Crystal City in its fourth year with an amazing array of more than 40 boutiques and designers from the Beltway and beyond.
Presented by the Crystal City Business Improvement District, Crystal Couture takes over the former food court at the Crystal City Shops, transforming the space into a shopping site, rocking runway and lounge. The one-stop shopping experience allows guests to browse discounted styles on the rack and on the runway as models showcase offerings from participating boutiques and designers. Guest will enjoy drinks, free make-up and hair makeovers, chats with wardrobe stylists and music from DJ Neekola.

I attended the event last year and had a great time. Runway shows ran every 10 – 15 minutes and there are a number of great local vendors, especially accessories vendors! I purchased gorgeous emerald necklaces. Can’t wait to check out more fabulous finds!!

I really like the idea of this serioes. It’s something we haven’t really seen in DC before and it’s a great way to bring attention to local businesses. The Trunk Series will take place once a month. Some will focus on fashion and others will focus on art. I’ve been told the February event will offer a spa, groom and pamper lounge. Just in time for Valentine’s Day!

The 5th Annual Kicks For Kids Charity Shoe Drive & Concert is on Sunday, December 18th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the 9:30 Club (815 V ST. N.W. Washington DC.)
Last year’s Kicks for Kids event garnered enough donations for over 400 pairs of new shoes that were donated to the Children’s National Medical Center (200 pairs), So Others Might Eat (100 pairs), and R&B Star Mya’s Arts & Tech Foundation (100 pairs). This year’s goal is to provide 800 pairs of shoes to sick children in need!

The holidays are not only a great opportunity to spend time with friends and family but it’s also a great time to give back to those in need. My Mood is Music, The Fellaz Youth Foundation and Mindstream Radio are hosting their 3rd annual toy & clothing drive, Project Impact, to support the children of the DC based organization So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.). Toys and clothing will be collected will attendees enjoy an afternoon of unlimited bowling!
S.O.M.E is the only interfaith community-based organization in DC that offers a comprehensive, holistic approach to caring for the homeless and extremely poor citizens of our city.

Today is World AIDS Day. On this day and throughout the week, the world unites in the fight against HIV by showing their support for people living with HIV and celebrates the lives of those who have died. World AIDS Day is also a time to bring awareness to the global epidemic and encourage all to practice safe sex, get tested and know your status!
There are a number of events taking place this week in honor of World AIDS Day. If you’re in the DC area, show your support by attending the 5th Annual Artists for Charity Holiday Benefit and Art Auction.
The Artists for Charity (AFC) event will feature artwork from local and international artists. 100% of the proceeds will go to the AFC Children’s Home which cares for orphaned children living with HIV in Ethiopia. The benefit and auction will take place from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at 600 I St. NW, Washington DC 20001.
