If you read the blog consistently, you know that I am all about giving back. Whether it’s raising money through a happy hour event or volunteering on a Saturday morning, I think it’s very important that we all do our part to give back to our communities.

Over the past few years, I have been a huge supporter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  Although I have not been personally affected by breast cancer, cancer runs in my family and some of my friends have family members who have had breast cancer.  Some are in remission and sadly others lost the fight.

This Saturday, June 4th, I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure on the National Mall in Washington, DC.  My team, Cool Runnings, is running the 5k to raise $1,000 to support the fight against breast cancer.  We have currently raised $435 and need your help to reach our goal.

Up to 75 percent of the Komen Global Race’s net income stays in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to fund local screening, treatment and education programs for the medically underserved. The remaining dollars support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Global Promise Fund, a program which is dedicated to reaching underserved people in areas where breast cancer mortality rates are the highest.

Every dollar makes a difference:

$100 could be used to provide one mammogram
$250 could be used to cover five clinical breast exams
$500 could be used to provide five diagnostic ultrasounds
$1000 could be used to provide 10 mammograms

If you would like to make a donation on behalf of the Cool Runnings team, please click HERE.  If you have friends and/or family that would be interested in making a donation, please share this post with them. Thank you in advance for your support!!!

Let’s all do our part to save the tatas!!
