Sole-Baring Collection

I went to the Saks Fifth Avenue website the other day to check out their sales (I was hoping to find something I could afford!!)  Before I could even click on the Sale section, these mesh boots by Christian Louboutin popped up.  Louboutin is taking boots to an entirely new level.  These “Madame Tall boots” are 5inches of mesh, leather trim and the popular red bottom platform.

But I can say, while they are Christian Louboutin boots, I wouldn’t want to expose my feet in a pair of boots.  To me, the purpose of boots is to keep the feet covered, especially in cooler temperatures.  But either way, these boots are definitely a show-stopper (and $1300)!

6126 By Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is making a name for herself in the fashion world.   She has come out with a legging line called 6126, named after Marilyn Monroe’s birthday.  Leggings were a big trend in 2009 and with a line like this one, expect to see more risqué looks this year.  She’s taking leggings to a whole new level. Now I usually rock my basic black leggings, but I may have to step out of my comfort zone and try a pair of these! icon smile 6126 By Lohan

A full 6126 line is expected to premiere next year at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom’s and Bloomingdale’s.  In the meantime, check out the full leggings line at http://www.shop.6126collection.com/

Radio Without Donnie Simpson

After Friday, January 29, 2010, Donnie Simpson will no longer be a member of WPGC 95.5 team. Like many of you, I grew up listening to The Donnie Simpson Morning Show every morning from 6am to 10am.

 Radio Without Donnie Simpson

It seems as though the Donnie Simpson Show was experiencing low ratings (firing seems to be a theme in the entertainment business when there are low ratings) and there was a lot of tension between Simpson and management.   The station proposed to have a retirement party for Simpson in March, but he declined. And I don’t blame him.  He isn’t retiring, he was fired so why try to cover it up with a party?? The tension between Simpson and management seemed to be apparent during last year when Simpson returned from vacation to find that his colleague of over 10 years, Chris Paul was no longer on the show.

It now makes more sense why they had “American’s Next Top Jock” auditions. The station is looking to take the radio show in a more “youthful” direction. Radio in the DMV won’t really be the same once he goes off the air this Friday.  Donnie Simpson we have all loved listening to you over the years and you’ll truly be missed!!

Guys, Don’t Settle Because You’re Afraid

“Don’t settle because you’re afraid you won’t find something better. Don’t compromise because you don’t want to be alone. Give your perfect life, lover and job time and space to grow into our life.”

So I ask, when is it time to move on and find something that may be better??? I have a group of guy friends that are single and want to live the single life “doing them” and then I have another group of guy friends who are  in long distance and long term relationships where they often don’t receive the appreciation and love that they should.  Now I understand, they are seeking guidance from God to figure out if these are situations they should be in, but I also ask them, if you aren’t being loved, appreciated and given the support you need, isn’t that also a sign from GOD that the situation was just a season and it may be time to move on?

Guys, Dont Settle Because Youre Afraid

After a couple of years, to me you should know whether you’re in a situation that you want to stay committed in. Are these guys afraid of being alone? If you’re not being loved and appreciated, move on.  If that means you have to live the single life for a while then so be it.

I told my guy friends, maybe they’re just settling. Or maybe since they’ve been in their situations for so long, they’re afraid to move on and see what else is out there.  Knowing these guys and what they stand for, any woman would be lucky to be with them.  My advice to both guys and girls, as the quote above says “Don’t settle because you’re afraid you won’t find something better.” Of course it’s easier said then done, so whatever you decide, make sure you always follow your heart so you don’t spend time thinking “what if.”

It’s The Simple Things

I can’t help but smile every time I think about this past weekend.  I sure was exhausted come Sunday; I’m ashamed that I wasn’t able to stay awake to finish watching the playoff games….SMH!   Friday night was a “date” night with a friend of mine.  We went to see The Book of Eli(I recommend everyone go see it) and of course I had to get food afterwards.  Saturday I went to a volunteer orientation, hung out in DC during the day and went out with some people that I hadn’t spent time with in what feels like a very long time.  Sunday morning, I woke up and laid in bed all morning watching movies thanks to the plethora of options on Fios! icon smile Its The Simple Things

As simple as it sounds, I had a great time.  Everyone I was with seemed to genuinely have a great time too which made the weekend carefree and enjoyable.  Great conversation and quality time was all that was needed!

I must say that this weekend gave me insight into what should be important in our lives; the simple things in life.  Don’t let the stress of work and personal drama bring down your spirit.  When you need a break from life, go see a movie, lay in bed all day doing absolutely nothing, call up a friend to just hang out, or make your way to church Sunday morning to get a good word (cause some of us haven’t been to church in a minute; myself included)!  You’ll appreciate the time spent hanging out.  Believe me, you may be exhausted, but it’s definitely worth it.

Victoria Secret Swim 2010!!

My girls and I went out to happy hour last week and we came up with a list of trips we wanted to take this year.  Of course half of those trips were to places where a swimsuit will be required.  We can always go in our drawer and pull out swimsuits we’ve worn in the past, but just like you purhcase a new outfit for an occassion, a new swimsuit for the year is a must as well.  And how exciting is it that the Victoria Secret Swim 2010 Collection is out!!!
The one-piece/monokini style has become a favorite style of mine from Victoria Secret.  They have a way to make the one-piece very sexy, more appealing than the 2 piece.  Here are some of my favorites:

"Red Carpet" Slashed One-Piece

"Very Sexy" Cut out twist one-piece

"Very Sexy" Wireless Push-Up Monokini

"Luli Fuma" MultiPrint CutOut Monokini

No more LOVE for this club

When people who aren’t from the DMV think about DC nightlife, LOVE nightclub always comes to mind.  Formerly known as Dream back in the day, LOVE became the center of DC nightlife. I remember once all of my friends and I became 18, we had to make that trip to LOVE.

But over time, LOVE has become less appealing to those in their twenties and the audience has changed.  I know most people in their twenties are now interested in going to smaller clubs and lounges, where they’re less crowded.   After a stabbing at LOVE on New Year’s Eve and various violent events, the Alcohol Beverage Regulation Administration has decided to close the club indefinitely.

Honestly, will LOVE nightclub really be missed?  I haven’t been to LOVE in years.  The overcrowded atmosphere isn’t really appealing anymore.  Unless you have an overpriced VIP table, it’s not really a good time.  But I’m sure LOVE won’t be closed for long; like most clubs it will probably reopen under a different name. Even under a different name, I’m not sure if that venue will ever be as appealing as it was before.  It just may be the end of an era.
